April 3-6 8th graders will be taking the ELA MStep next week!
SOW: none WOW: none AOW: none Reading Genre: Historical Holocaust fiction/nonfiction Tuesday: Students take a paper-version of the online review with teacher and peer help. Answers are reviewed in class. Wednesday: Students take the online practice. They need their answers from Tuesday to enter the correct answers for questions 1-15. Then, questions 16-30 will be new for them and complete independently. Thursday: Students prepare for the written portion of the MStep by reviewing student sample responses to a TDA writing prompt. http://www.michigan.gov/documents/mde/M-Step_Grade_8_Student_Response_Sampler_609196_7.pdf Review the Rubric and scoring examples. Have them identify strengths and weaknesses in the student examples. Make a TO-DO and NOT-TO-DO list. Friday: End of the 3rd quarter: Brownie War, new jobs, Holocaust Books assigned and requirements explained: read a minimum of one book, one word chart per week, one reading response per week, and one book talk (counts as PR book talk). DUE FRIDAY: RDW 1: Mstep practice lined paper answers.
